This project reconfigures images specifically produced and reproduced in mass media until they became fixed historical images seemingly grafted onto our collective memory. The photographs are titled and arranged to allow for a limited and sequential narrative. The series reconfigures a single mass media photograph from the twentieth century by duplicating the original “Event”, proposing an image as “Evidence” of its factuality and, finally, by documenting a possible narrative, or "Aftermath", beyond the moment the photograph was taken. The photographs are arranged as triptychs: usually the first photograph represents the “Event,” the second, “Evidence” and the third, “Aftermath”. In Space Claim Neil Armstrong’s trip to the moon is relocated to the front façade of newly constructed housing developments while Return To Normalcy illustrates a famous post World War II kiss as a violent and reckless act.

By envisioning a future beyond the image-present, and by interpolating myself within the photographs, I seek to re-inscribe the discourse surrounding historical events and more importantly, open it for further (re)interpretations. The project is reminiscent of themes I have addressed in past media work using the science fiction genre (a futuristic synthesis of apocalypse and fantasy) to address contemporary incongruence and eventual repetitions.
